KF6RUQ

1998 signaled the beginning of Mike's Amateur Radio journey. Prior to earning a no-code Technician Class license, Mike became a Sacramento Amateur Radio Club (SARC) member. Club members and buddy Bob (K6RWB) all pressed Mike towards earning a license so that he could participate in the 1998 "Field Day" event, then just weeks away. He attained the license and participated full bore during Field Day. Field Day proved to be an excellent indoctrination to radio operations and a sure-fire way to extinguish "Mic Fright". He was even featured on the local evening news as a Field Day participant. In 2005 Mike finally upgraded to an Amateur Extra ticket.
